Chukchi Shelf ADCP Data 1996

This page presents ADCP data collected in Sept. 1996 aboard the R/V Alpha Helix with Drs. Koji Shimada and John Christensen as co-leaders. The data collection effort was jointly funded by JAMSTEC and NSF while the High Latitude program of the Office of Naval Research funded this data processing and web-posting effort.

The data were

collected at sea as 2-minute ensemble averages;
processed by me with rd-hx96.f;
calibrated for misalignment and scaling (Joyce, 1989);
screened objectively for
- navigation (BT only),
- sidelobe interference (z<0.85*depth),
- % good pings (>85), and
- ship speed (>200 cm/s); and
were formatted as
- ASCII files organized in sections, that
- include 5 lines of a self-explanatory header, and
- are final as of Nov. 15, 2000.

An example of more than 40 sections from the Beaufort shelf is shown as a .jpeg and .ps graphics file as well as an ASCII data file.
